If you haven’t flown in a balloon or just like balloons this will be the trip for you!!  And don’t forget to bring your camera.  Thirty years ago, Topeka residents were introduced to one of the most popular community events in the state. The first, soon to be annual, Great Plains Huff n’ Puff Balloon Rally took place over Father’s Day weekend in June 1976.  The Rally is held at beautiful Lake Shawnee and is one of the largest in the mid-west.  At 6PM watch, with camera in hand, the kaleidoscope of multi-colored balloons lift-off into the sky.  There are tethered balloon rides included for any adventurous person!   Pilots create a “glow” effect as darkness sets by continuously firing the balloon's burners which creates great images!   The BURNERS also give the balloon its majestic beauty as darkness falls through a spectacular glowing effect.  An early dinner is included before we arrive at the rally.
