On May 22, 2011 a catastrophic EF5 tornado struck Joplin, Missouri that forever changed this city including the lose of over a hundred lives. Join us for a first-hand experience as you learn from a local guide how the community has come together to begin the rebuilding process. We’ll make several stops along the way including the Cunningham Park Memorial Site. Joplin is now building at a record pace! Since the tornado, over 441 homes have been constructed, 316 of those in or near the damage zone. The city lost more than 7,000 housing units in the tornado. At the end of the tour, on your behalf, McKinzie Tours will present a donation to the Joplin Relief Fund. In sharp contrast to the destruction of the tornado is the Sandstone Home and Garden Estate which was untouched.
