Why not start the year with a real sense of adventure and join us for the WolfTrack Classic Sled Dog Race in Ely, (pounced E-Lee) Minnesota? Ely is the gateway to one of America’s last pure outdoor experiences.  Discover wilderness lakes and forest unchanged by the hand of man.  It is the gateway to the famed Boundary Waters Wilderness between the United States and Canada.  Arrive in Ely on our second day in time for lunch at the Grand Ely Lodge overlooking the lake and our home for the next two nights.  Take a walk on the wild side when you visit the award winning interpretive facility that offers a unique opportunity to view the interaction of wolves in their natural habitat.  48 High-definition video monitors show exciting aspects of wild bear life never recorded before.  Return to the lodge for a fabulous meal at the Evergreen Restaurant overlooking Shagawa Lake then relax at the Antlers Lounge.  Sundays the Big Day! Get set for a full day.  Join hundreds of spectators, media and race officials as you watch the dog teams blast out of the chute! Cheer on all 6-Dog teams as they start the 30 mile race from Ely to Tower.  We’ll arrive early to meet the mushers and their canine athletes.  Join with hundreds of spectators, media and race official in Tower as you cheer on the finishers of the 6-Dog race. Tower Civic Center provides a warm place, some hot drinks and festive atmosphere to await the winners.  Return to Ely to watch the 10-Dog teams rocket out of the shut for the 130 mile race to Cook and back.  Monday also promises some once-in-a-lifetime thrills. We’ve arranged for you to choose from some fantastic optional adventures. Select from dog sledding, snowmobiling, ice fishing (with your own guide to take you to the best spots and heat up the ice house) to cross county skiing or snowshoeing.  Activities will include professional guides.  For those less adventures we hear that downtown Ely has some fantastic local shops.
