Come discover Nova Scotia’s blend of history, culture and natural beauty. Take a breath of salty sea air, savor a steaming
lobster, and raise your spirits with the sounds of Celtic music. Long the way you’ll visit the quaint village of Dublin Ohio—where Irish is an attitude, and enjoy lunch at a scenic Finger Lakes NY winery. Stop in Portsmouth New Hampshire with
its charming downtown shops, and beautiful harbor. Spend the night in
Bangor Maine and then travel to the great Maritime city of Halifax for a
two night stay! Enjoy a tour of the historic port city of Halifax, the capital
of Nova Scotia. You’ll visit the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, and take a stroll through the Halifax Public Gardens, a fine example of
Victorian landscaping. Leaving the bustle of the city behind travel to the
quaint fishing village of Peggy’s Cove. This scenic fishing village, with its
historic lighthouse, may be one of Canada’s most photographed sites, and
many travelers cite this visit as a trip highlight. You’ll enjoy an included
lunch at the Sou’Wester Restaurant which overlooks the lighthouse.
Travel to Cape Breton Island, the “Scotland of North America.” Continue
to the village of Baddeck, where you will visit the Alexander Graham
Bell National Historic Site, a museum that is dedicated to the life
and work of this great genius. Later check in to Auberge Gisele's Inn, overlooking the majestic Bras d'Or Lakes for a two
night stay. Spend a full day exploring the famed Cabot Trail. Travel through the Cape Breton Highlands National Park
where the mountains meet the sea and visit the intriguing village of Cheticamp, famous for its “hooked” crafts and Acadian
culture. Mid-day, step off your motorcoach for a picnic lunch amid the pastoral grandeur of the rugged seaside landscape.
Board the ferry for the crossing to Prince Edward Island, Canada’s smallest province. Visit Green Gables which has become
famous around the world as the inspiration for the setting in Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic tale of fiction, Anne of
Green Gables. Stop at Cavendish Beach where you can dip your toes in the ocean, if you wish and drive through Prince Edward
Island National Park, renowned for its red sandstone cliffs, white sand beaches, rolling sand dunes, and lush green
fields. End your day with a Maritime tradition - the Lobster Supper. Tasty chowder or soup, delicious locally cultivated
mussels, salad and homemade rolls accompany a one-pound lobster. Cross Confederation
Bridge, the longest multi span bridge over tidal water, to New Brunswick. Stop in
Moncton to experience the natural phenomena of Magnetic Hill. See for yourself as
the motorcoach is put in neutral and rolls uphill without power! Magnetic or Magic? See
where the world’s highest tides have gouged four-storey sculptures from the cliffs at
Hopewell Rocks. At low tide, the rocks look like giant flowerpots; at high tide, they
practically disappear. Continue through Fundy National Park on your way to Fredericton
where you will spend the night. Journey to romantic Québec City, one of the most
historic and best-preserved cities in North America. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided tour
of Canada’s only walled city. See the Old-World houses crowding the narrow streets in
Lower Town by the St. Lawrence River and the historic Plains of Abraham. You’ll also
visit Montreal, the cultural capital of French Canada and the largest French-speaking
city outside France. Here, your local guide introduces the historic sites of Montreal including
Notre Dame Basilica, St. Joseph's Oratory, Old Montreal, the Latin Quarter,
and a panoramic view from an observation point on top of Mount Royal. Travel
along Lake Ontario to Toronto, Canada’s largest and most cosmopolitan city. Take a narrated harbor cruise with spectacular views of the lakefront and
downtown area. Leaving Canada we travel back into the Detroit Michigan area where we visit the Henry Ford Museum, a
12-acre repository of Americana. "Heroes of the Sky" features dozens of historic airplanes including early commercial and
barnstorming planes. But the museum's highlight is, not surprisingly, "The Automobile in American Life," exploring our nation's
infatuation with cars. Look for the Rosa Parks Bus as well as Ford's 1901 Model-T, and a host of presidential cars, including
the limousine in which Kennedy was shot. In route home spend the night in Springfield Illinois, and visit world-class
Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, where scholarship and showmanship combine, using 21st century technology to
immerse visitors in the world of gas lamps and hoop skirts - the world of Abraham Lincoln.
